A 16-bed, clinically supervised residential treatment program in Merchantville, NJ. Serving adults across South Jersey and greater Philadelphia. Same-day admissions available 24/7.
Inpatient residential treatment is the most structured level of care available for adults struggling with substance use disorders outside medical detox. At Maplewood Treatment Solutions, our residential program is designed for individuals who need more than outpatient support can provide. Whether someone has relapsed after completing a lower level of care, is transitioning out of detox and not yet stable, or is dealing with a substance use disorder that has resisted previous treatment attempts, residential treatment provides the time, space, and clinical intensity needed to make real progress.
Located in Merchantville, NJ just minutes from Cherry Hill and Camden County, Maplewood offers a 16-bed residential environment that prioritizes individual attention over volume. Each person admitted receives a fully individualized treatment plan built around their specific clinical history, substance use patterns, and personal goals.

Generally speaking, inpatient residential treatment is the right level of care when outpatient options have not been enough, or when the clinical picture requires a higher degree of medical and psychiatric oversight.
We commonly work with:
Ultimately, the decision about the right level of care is made collaboratively between the client, their family, and our admissions clinical team.
Maplewood operates under a New Jersey DOH license for Residential Treatment Care. Within that single licensed level of care, our program is structured into two clinical phases, each designed to meet the client where they are and move them forward intentionally.
Phase 1
For higher-acuity patients who need continued medical monitoring
The stabilization phase is for individuals who arrive with higher clinical acuity those who did not qualify for or complete medical detox, individuals coming in with prolonged alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or clients whose medical or psychiatric status requires close monitoring before deeper therapeutic work can begin.
This is not a detox program. Maplewood is not licensed for medical detox. However, for individuals who are medically cleared but still require more intensive clinical observation, the stabilization phase provides:
On average, clients spend several days to one week in the stabilization phase before transitioning to the residential treatment phase. The timeline is clinically determined — not preset.
Phase 2
For clients who are medically stable and ready for full therapeutic engagement
The residential treatment phase is where the core clinical work happens. Clients in Phase 2 are medically stable, typically one to two weeks removed from active substance use, and ready to engage fully in the structured therapeutic programming at Maplewood.
In this phase, clients participate in:
The residential treatment phase typically lasts 10 to 20 days, though the total length of stay is individualized based on clinical progress, not a fixed program calendar.
Staff are available around the clock. Every need is addressed immediately. No one is left alone to figure things out.
At Maplewood, clinical and medical support is not supplemental, it is the foundation of care. From the moment a client is admitted, our nursing staff and clinical team are actively involved in monitoring progress, adjusting medications, and ensuring every aspect of the treatment plan is being followed.
Because of this hands-on approach, clients at Maplewood receive a level of individual attention that larger volume-based programs simply cannot replicate. Problems are identified early, treatment plans are adjusted in real time, and staff follow up to make sure issues are resolved.
“Every treatment plan at Maplewood is fully individualized never templated, never one-size-fits-all.”

Cost varies by insurance, program length, and coverage. Residential treatment at Maplewood is covered by most major private insurers under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. A 30-day residential stay typically ranges from $6,000–$30,000 without insurance, but most people pay significantly less or nothing out of pocket with coverage in place. Call us or verify your insurance online — we will confirm your specific benefits before admission, no obligation required.
Most residential treatment programs run 28 to 90 days. Shorter programs exist but NIDA’s research shows that longer treatment episodes — 90 days or more — are strongly associated with better long-term outcomes. At Maplewood, length of stay is clinically driven and based on your individual progress and insurance coverage. We do not discharge clients before they are clinically ready.
Insurance pays for the majority of inpatient rehab for most people. Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, insurers must cover substance use disorder treatment at the same level as other medical care. Medicaid, Medicare, and most private plans cover residential treatment. Call our admissions team to verify your specific coverage before making any decisions — the call is free and there is no obligation.
The national average for a 30-day residential rehab ranges from $6,000 to $30,000 without insurance. At Maplewood Treatment Solutions, we work with your insurance to minimize out-of-pocket costs. Most clients pay significantly less than the full cost, or nothing at all, depending on their plan. We verify your benefits before admission so there are no surprises.
Our inpatient residential program ranges from 28 to 90 days, depending on your clinical needs, insurance coverage, and progress in treatment. For patients who require it, yes, we provide medically supervised withdrawal management (often referred to as detox) before transitioning into the core inpatient residential treatment program. Our nursing and clinical team monitors you around the clock during this stabilization phase, using FDA-approved medications to manage symptoms safely and comfortably. Not all patients require this phase; it depends on the substance and the severity of dependence.
We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and many major private insurance plans. Most insurers are required by law to provide coverage for substance use disorder treatment at parity with other medical conditions (the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act). Call us or use our online insurance verification tool and we will confirm your benefits before admission, no obligation required.
Family involvement is an important component of the recovery process. We have structured family programming, scheduled visitation, and dedicated family therapy sessions. The specifics depend on where you are in your treatment and what your clinical team recommends. We will share our full visitation policy when you call.
Discharge planning begins at admission, not the last week of treatment. Our team will work with you to develop a comprehensive aftercare plan that may include step-down to partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), individual outpatient therapy, MAT continuation, peer support groups, and sober living referrals. We do not simply discharge you and wish you well. Recovery is a continuum.
